Preliminary voting ere done (in the respective township) during from the third week of April to the first week of May, 2008 in Nankam, Muse, Kutkai, Theinee, Lashio, Namtu, Thipaw, Kyaukme, Nanseng and Mantong townships. Responsible persons for polling booths had to attend, watch and guide the vote casting of the invited people to approve the constitution. (more…)

From February, 2008 after announcing that the referendum would be held, the SPDC had done public organizing works, preparation and prating for the referendum and deployment of its troops in the region. Nanseng USDA leader U Kun Pwint and militia leader U kyaw Own traveled village after village to organize the honest villagers living in hilly region to approve the constitution. (more…)

Man Tong — On 10 June, 2008 Nar Aw Gyi village group in Man Tong Township, Northern Shan State was collected as a new members for the military led by Zaw Htun, Battalion Commander of Infantry Battalion, IB 130 for sending to being new military members at Lashio Regional Military Command Headquarters at least one person from each village. On 1 June, 2008 The military base by the captain of Infantry Battalion 130, Thin Maung Win gave an order to some of his soldiers to call the truck owner to be porters for carrying their things and supplies from Mantong to a new location in order to extend their activities and set up a military camp in Man Tong Township, Northern Shan State. On June 8, 2008 most of villagers from Mai Maw in Man Tong Township, Shan State who cultivate the rice named Tan Yoie has been forced to pay tax for their cattle farm as a result of give support to the people who suffer from the Cyclone Nargit and Myit Aung was ordered by USDA’s leader to take responsibility in order to ask for the money from the villagers 26000 Kyat for one acre. “Palaung Working Group Against SPDC’s Referendum” of Report…
We published the “Ballots against People’s Will” report in order to let people know that the referendum result of SPDC was not a legitimate result, and that it is instead a violation of genuine will of the people. This illegitimate ballot was held by Burmese military regime on May 10, 2008. (more…)
