On 4th December, 10:10 p.m., China’s biggest hydropower BOT (Build Operate-Transfer) project in Myanmar, Shweli 1 Hydropower Station’s. No. 2 generating turbine officially started operation and supplied power back to China. This is the first power station outside the country that supplies electricity to China.
Shweli 1 Hydropower Station, which is located on Myanmar’sShweli (Ruili) River, is equipped with six 100-MW generating turbines. It is jointly built by Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Company, Yunnan Hexing Investment and Development Company, and Yunnan Machinery and Equipment Import
Export Company. The BOT contract lasts for 40 years. The power station is connected to China’s power grid, which serves the mission of China’s “West to-East Power Transmission”.
