Local People are Recruited for New Soldiers

Man Tong — On 10 June, 2008 Nar Aw Gyi village group in Man Tong Township, Northern Shan State was collected as a  new members for the military led by Zaw Htun, Battalion Commander of Infantry Battalion, IB 130 for sending to being new military members at Lashio Regional Military Command Headquarters at least one person from each village.

Around Man Tong areas, there were being collected 30 people within one month and the news military members will be processing up to six months. The villages of Jal Kaoung, Kho Mong, Man Mai, Nar Or Kay, Man Sat, Pan Yaoung, Laol Mon, Taw Nay, Ma Kaut and Naung Part were being authenticated for new military members by Zaw Htun, Battalion Commander and his followers.

The person from each village were being hired and paid about 70,000 Kyat to their families by the village to be sent to the military base in Lashio. Their future is not clear and their families were not being informed what time they will be going back to their status hometown.

About 5 new members from the Man Ton areas were sent on August 19 to Lashio Regional Military Command Headquarters by the Man Ton military base IB 130.

They had been amassing more soldiers for his army over the villages around Man Tong Township, Northern Shan State in 2007.
