Brief Biography of Palaung Leader, Thar Nyi Long

http://palaungland.org/?cat=22Thar Nyi Long, aged 57, was born on 15 February 1961 at Pgarn Khar village, Namkham Township, northern Shan State. He was the second son of U Shaw Seain and Daw Arme.

He participated in the Palaung National Front, PNF as a comrade level in 1966. He was trained at Thai-Burma border about communication, medic, military and politic, alliance affair. During that time, he was posited at joint sergeant.

He was promoted the position from the joint sergeant to sergeant at Military Strategic Region No. 2 after he had come back from the border being completed the various training in 1973.

Within the region 2, he had effectively implemented his all passionate skill for the Palaung army in the military, administration, public affair and others.

He got marriage in 1977 with the Nurses, Daw Nan Sine and they got 3 children. In 1983, after he was promoted to the general level, he was moved to Central Head Quarter.

As he has effectively implemented his military skill at the head quarter and he was promoted to the captain. He became a member of Central Committee and vice commander in chief.

After that he became a member of military commission and also he leaded political role of the Palaung people as well. In 1990, he was leading the Central Committee as vice-chairman, commander in chief in army, military commission as the chairman.

After the cease-fire with the Burmese government in 1991, he continued becoming the chairman of Region Development Committee and coordinator of alliance affair. Beyond the leading of Central Committee as vice chairman and coordinator of alliance affair, he also had to lead the Central Economy and liaison in charge as well in 1999 and moved to Lashio Township.

He was the leader of representatives of Special Region 7 (Palaung Region), attended the National Convention which held by the government in 2004.

In the Palaung State Liberation Army, PSLA, after he was promoted as senior general and until he passed away, he continued leading the Central Committee as vice chairman, Central Economy and Liaison as in charge, and alliance affair as coordinator.

As he implemented all he could for the Palaung politic with his full-skilled, the mass Palaung people admired him as the skillful leader for his Palaung people and also he was memorized as the Palaung nationality leader by the alliance organization.

There were 3 sons and 1 daughter and two grandsons and his lovely wife left after he passed away on 18 February 2008.
